Siren CB Chatter: Privacy policy
Siren CB Chatter (by Siren Global) is a push-to-talk CB-style voice app. This page explains, in plain English, what the app collects and what happens to it.
What we collect
- Your voice, live. The app uses your microphone only while you hold push-to-talk (or tap your earbud to key the mic). Your voice is relayed live to people on the same channel. It is not recorded or stored, except as described under "Reports" below.
- Words on screen. If your phone supports it, the words you speak while keyed up are turned into text on your own device (your phone maker or browser, such as Apple or Google, may process the audio to do that). The text is shown to you and to others on the channel, relayed live by our server, which does not store it.
- Location. The app can use your location to show nearby drivers and channels (shown to others at city level), and only if you choose, to share a pin with a time limit. Location is not sold.
- Handle and account id. Your CB handle and a random account id the app creates. We don't ask for your real name.
- IP address (draft). Your raw internet address is never written to logs or disk. The server keeps a scrambled (salted hash) value to limit spam and enforce bans; the join log with that value is deleted automatically after 7 days. If the app is reached through a hosting or network provider, that provider may see your IP address under its own policy.
- Truck bot directions and weather. If you ask a truck bot for directions or the weather, our server sends only the place you named and your starting city or rounded position (about 100 m) to free public services: OpenStreetMap Nominatim (place lookup), the OSRM demo router (route) and Open-Meteo (weather). Our server makes the request, so your IP address is not sent to them. We don't log the question or store the answer; place names and their map coordinates (not who asked) are kept in server memory for up to a day to avoid repeat lookups. Free routing is for cars, not trucks.
- Truck bot voices. Bot replies are spoken by your phone's built-in voice. Only if the paid voice service is turned on, the bot's reply text (never your handle, name or words) is sent to Google Cloud Text-to-Speech to be voiced; we keep the audio only briefly in memory to avoid repeat charges and don't store it.
- Bot greeting for one handle. When the handle you entered matches the one handle the bots greet by name, the server tells others in the room only that this greeting should play (a yes/no signal, not your handle). Your handle is checked when you join and is not logged or stored for this.
- Sign-in welcome. When you come online, a truck bot may say your chosen CB handle (never your real name) out loud to others in the room, for example "hey welcome, how about it [handle], welcome on Siren CB Chatter Radio, what's your 20?" To do this the server passes your handle to phones in the room once, only for that greeting. Handles are not stored or logged for this, and whatever you answer is not stored.
- Block list. The handles you block, so we can hide them from you.
- Reports. When you report a user, message or voice clip, we save: the time, your account id, who or what you reported, the channel, and your reason. When you report a live talker, the server saves the last 30 seconds of that talker's audio (held in memory only until then). Clips are deleted automatically 30 days after a person closes the review. Only reported clips are saved; nothing else is recorded. Five reports from different people put a case in front of a human reviewer; only a person can confirm a violation, which suspends the handle and hashed IP for 30 days.
How we use it
To run live voice channels, show nearby drivers, hide people you block, and let a person review reports. Every report is reviewed by a human; nobody is banned automatically.
Sharing
We don't sell your data. Live voice and your handle are seen by people on your channel. We may share data if the law requires it.
Keeping and deleting
You can delete your account and data in the app (About, then "Safety, blocked users and account", then "Delete my account and data"), or see how account deletion works. Deleting removes your account id, handle and block list from the server and clears your device. Reports you filed are kept without your account id until review is finished, for safety. Reports about you may be kept until a person closes them.
Children
The app is for adults 18 and over. It asks you to confirm your age the first time you open it.
